But A Sword

“BUT A SWORD”
A Message By Bro. Heath

You can’t be a true Christian without owning a sword and I will prove it to you.
The sword which Christ demands us to wield is a sword that divides. Really? Yea, really.

Christ didn’t tell us to embrace a wicked, decadent culture or compromise our convictions and faith when friends or family live in open rebellion to God’s holy ways.
Yes, we can love all sinners without endorsing their sin.

As a matter of fact, the proper way to love someone is by not compromising God’s holy ways, by showing sinful men that it is possible to live the way that God has intended us to live in holiness and love. This means living holy and pure, above reproach, so that sinners can see Christ in us and thereby be convicted of their sin.
Yes, contrary to modern psychology and political correctness, shame and guilt are not enemies of the human soul or psyche.
They are needed emotions that can cleanse the mind, change the heart and convert the soul.

This includes being lovingly shamed. Yes, even being overwhelmed with guilt until they are remorseful and humbled to repentance.
Those who are opposed to the old fashioned “smiting of the conscience” who only support the new model of “no shame in who or what you are” are essentially telling all men and women to kill their God given sense of right and wrong, to kill their consciences.
This is by far the most dangerous ideology and political correctness to date.
It has turned a nation of God fearing people into hedonistic (animalistic pleasure seeking) zombies who truly are brain dead to any sense of absolute morality.
I see and hear zombies everywhere now and it’s really starting to freak me out.
“Going along to get along” sounds like trying to appease men to maintain a fragile, humanistic peace of sorts. Yet Jesus, the “Prince of Peace” said that He “did not come to bring peace… but a sword.”

This is why more than ever before Christians need to wield the sword of truth, to wield the sword that divides good from evil, right from wrong, the holy from the profane. Fair warning however, in doing so, it may divide your own household. Unfortunately, friends and family members may not maintain your fundamental Bible beliefs or holy, Godly lifestyle choices. You may lose friends and make family members want to feed you to the lions.
Sorry, this probably means giving up your “cool Christian dude” persona and the image of being on the bandwagon with all modern fun and lawlessness. Darn it, moral convictions, why do you have to be such a stick in the mud! Can’t we just embrace the filthy decadence of our modern, hip world?
No, we must wield the sword that Jesus spoke about… in love of course. We must take a stand for righteousness, even if some “lawless religious people” who think “grace is a license to sin” wrongly call you “self righteous” because you actually strive to live out the teachings of Christ and the Bible. The audacity of some Christians! To actually have moral principles that you live by! You must be a legalist and a bigot!

We could make peace like some churches advertise and say “we are a no judgment zone church” (which really just means they care more about getting your money than getting your soul). We could say that we’re “seeker sensitive” and we will make sure not to share most of God’s Word that gives your conscience a real flogging. No swords here. Just a bunch of ear tickling goobly gook motivational pep talks.
No, not for me. Sorry, I hear the flushing noise and the sewer stench that such compromise and appeasement brings. I will wield the sword my Lord Jesus wielded (in love of course).

Perhaps I can smite a few zombies who’ve seared their consciences with the hot iron of “junk psychology”, “lawless religion” and political correctness. Perhaps, I can with the power of God’s Word, (which is the sword of truth) turn them back into humans with a conscience again. I don’t know. I hope so.
How about you, oh professing Christian? Do you wield your sword of conviction and truth in love or have you compromised with silence and coward down to the intimidation of an evil age?

“Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. A man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.” ~Jesus
(Matthew 10:34-36)
